I have an L98 and was curious as to who here ices down their plenum between passes? Does it give you a noticable difference in performance? I see some guys do it at the track and was just wondering if it was worth the hassle.
AL. conducts heat nicely, also there is a lot of metal there to cool. Running the fan will help cool the engine, and thus the plenum, since they are connected.
I've seen it done many times and I'm told it works. I have yet to try it myself thou. The plenum does get pretty hot, so I would figure it would melt whatever bag the ice is in??

I thought that too, I know the one guy at the track wraps the bag in a hand towel.
I think I am going to try this tonight. What are you guys using, just a freezer ziploc bag filled with ice and wrapped in a hand towel?
Yep. I used the biggest bag I could find. It had one of those sliding things to seal it. Didn't use the towel though. The ice melts pretty quick. I had an ice chest with enough ice for the beer and the car. Mid America sells something specifically for cooling down the intake so it probably gives you 35 rwhp and doesnt work very well. J/jk
