It's probably your headlight bushings. That's all I had to replace and they've worked great ever since. Do a search. You'll find a ton of info with the headlights.

1985 Vettes DO NOT have bushings, only gears.

General advice I could give here is to look at the one that works and try and see what the difference is with the one that doesn't. Is the linkage binding up somewhere? You have one that works right so that should help you diagnose it.

My 87 got a similar problem and I managed to get working by taking the motor apart and cleaning the ground up copper and graphic out of it. Be careful, it's old and brittle.

Yet another thing to check (don't you love it...) - My '85 had a brittle/broken wire in the 'harness' that loops around the headlight assy clipped to the hood. The flat gray/white/green wire set that runs to the motor below the hood cutout. Where that set ties into the bundle from the lamp itself and then runs down to the harness plug has to flex everytime the hood is opened - asking for trouble. I've Also fought bad electrical connections within the harness plugs themselves.

We are talking about a 21 year old car, afterall - no surprise that electrical issues like that crop up...
