99% of the time it's the battery. Get a new one and it should stop blinking. Easy do-it-yoursel project, just be sure to have Torx bits for the inner fender.

Take your battery out and check it for swelling. Two days after I bought my '96, the SYS was flashing and next thing I knew, it was dead. I pulled the old battery out and all 4 sides were swelled out. Easy fix.
