Default Finally -- Headers yes or no

All,

After calling around town, I cannot find anyone that will install headers on my car. I dont think I can install them myselfd since I have no real means of getting the monsters on.

A guy I work with also tells me that cockpit temps will rise due to the headers (At least awound your feet). So, if I cant get the headers on, what would I be loosing in terms of performance by just installing a Y pipe with no cats?

Im still looking for an exhause since everyone said that tne B&B has alot of resonance. I want to use the walker crossover pipe but Im stock on what muffler to buy. I want the car to sound really nice at WOT and at idle, but no ear rattling resonance while driving (I dont mind resonance, just not ear rattling resonance).

Im really focusing my car on the exhaust right now, just dont want to make a big mistake.

First of all if they aren't ceramic coated get it done. They will run a lot cooler and look great forever.

If you're close to Trenton, NJ, give Denny at Mufflex (link on my site) a call. They do great work at a good price and are quick too.

FYI, I have stock headers with a hi-flow Y, cat and cat-back that gave me some nice gains. Mufflex did the custom work and all installation.

I live down the street from ya (sort of). I have Headers on my car. The TPIS ones are nice and fit well. I got the coated ones with emission hookups. Yes they heat the engine compartment. I have not noticed alot of interior heat. I did wrap the starter to prevent heat from gettin to it. With those you also have to get the later EGR tube. You can check mine out first, if you like to get a reaction, on sound and heat. I had precats, that the long tubes did away with. I also replaced the CAT. I found a mechanic that would install headers and exhaust parts. He is good with corvettes of all years. You would have to make an appointment in advance and have your headers and pipes already, like I did. He was rather hesisitant about doing it. Apparently it is illegal for a shop to replace the precats with Headers. I can email you his phone number/address or you can call me. 301-262-3363
