Has anyone had any experience with any NOVA performance shops? I am looking to get my car on the dyno, hopefully tuned and maybe even start purchasing mods for it. Looking for someone who can provide reliable installs on my stock L98. Thanks for any advice in advance
I've had good luck with Ferrari's Custom Car and Truck (FCCT) here in Sterling. Wes who runs the shop has a C6 with a blower and seems to know his way around vettes. They have a dyno and put a decent tune on mine.
I have also been to this shop more than a few times. At first it seemed to be a good shop but the more I took my car there and the closer I looked at what they were doing, it turned out to be a dissapointment. They messed up a fuel filter replacement(fuel leaking). They fixed it, but I had to bring my car back and they wanted me to wait until a worker returned from vacation.
I also had the clicking noise etc. others have had plus another noise comming from the rear of my car. They were not sure of the problem so they gave me a quote of around $2,600 to replace some of the major components at the rear of my car. Needless to say I didn't have them do the work. Many miles and much later I still have the clicking noise(it has remained about the same) and I fixed(suppressed) the other noise for around $10.
They also frown upon waiting at the shop while your car is being worked on and they don't want you in the shop, so you won't be able to see the mistakes they make. They took digital pictures of some of the work being done to my car at first but that ended after around my second visit.
I know Tony's Corvette Shop has been listed in Corvette fevers (shops you can trust section) but they are the same people that promised to get 500 hp out of a LT4/383 build and didn't deliver.

I had a similar experience at Tony’s with my C3 corvette. I took the car there to have the steering column rebuilt. the car was there for a few days and they called me up to pick up the car. I immediately noticed the column was still broken. I talked to Tony, conversation went on for a while. Telling he did this that and the other. In the end he told me he was an accountant and that is the best he could do. He also suggested I come back later and talk with the guy that did the actual work. That I didn't understand. I wasn't paying the guy that did the work. I was paying TONY. So, Tony should be the one to take care of the issue. In the end all I got was this is the best we can do. Paid the money and never went back. This was back in 2002. At the time they didn’t have a dyno and the larger shop. Maybe he has better people working for him, don’t know. Remember he’s only an accountant!!!
I need to fix the column in my 1996. I thought about taking it to the dealer but that thought quickly left my mind. I bought a used junk yard column out of 1996. I'm going to spend my time breaking and learning on that one so i can fix my column right the first time.
500hp out a LT4 383! good luck. I'm on the same quest!
Send me an e-mail, I would like to talk to you about your build. Bluewasp@yahoo.com
Novakid,
My suggestion to you is do the work yourself. Pick up a book, search the forum etc.. in the end you will know if the work was done right and not end up sitting on the side of the road or worse a blown engine. My .02
maybe we can get a few local guys to help you with the swap. We have mod parties every few months and I don't see why we couldn't tackle a cam iswap over a weekend or maybe two.
with Rob. Tony knows the specs on restored vettes. The shop is good at fixing stock items that are broken and locating hard to find parts. I don't feel they are set up to be a "high performance" shop. I spent $4500 to have them go thru my 434 and 2 days after I got it home, it caught on fire . I personally like Tony and Keith but I'd look elsewhere and try to do as much yourself as you can.
Four bad reviews and one, "I'm only an accountant"!!!!??? He didn't really say that, did he? While owning a "Corvette Shop"--I'm only an accountant??? Good grief.
