Default My progress...

well waxed the killer today then changed the oil and filter used Mobil 1 and a fram filter#3980...was very easy, then sprayed some simple green around the engine compartment.
while at walmart I also picked up a fuel filter#3727 was only like $10 bucks. air filter was new a K&N, but looked like it needs to be oiled..
I saw some grease fittings that I need to tackle tomorrow..how many are there and where?
Also how hard to change fuel filter on these bad boys? is there a link or something so I can read on it before doing it? Thanks.

Don't forget: there was a post in one of your threads about FSM and Helm, Inc. manuals. Very helpful for the DIY like yourself. At the least, it lets you ask intelligent questions that the FSM's don't answer.

Easy to replace the filter it is on the passenger side of the Vette behind a plate, they come off with 10mm socket. Don't remember what size the filter ends are but make sure you back up the nut on the filter so you have no problems in the long run with twisted parts.

As far as the lube fittings not sure where all are located but start at one front wheel and do a complete inspection and lube each zerk fitting accordingly then move to the others. Don't know if your u-joint have zerks or not you'll have to check!

Thanks,Matt

Sounds like a good afternoon! Maybe at your next oil change, consider a K&N or Wix (or just a plain ol' ACDelco) oil filter. The FRAMs have some shakey reviews here and there. I'm sure you're fine for now, but I wouldn't make a habit of using them.

Here is a site on filters:

http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters.html

Careful with the Simple Green, it can etch metal. Also be careful with over oiling the K&N, the extra oil can cake sensors. Zerks, mine has six all in front.

Zerks (grease fittings) are both tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints on both sides and the lower one is real PITA to reach. Gas filter is also PITA on mine as it is between right side cat and the frame--guess they could not have found a harder place to reach. Congrats again!!

You may want to read my old thread and be careful about what fuel filter you use... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...lter+purolator -- Good luck with Walmart.
