Hey fellas...... i was just reading a post about a guy over heading all the time, and one of the replys were if your oil temp. is hotter than your coolant temp. then you spun a bearing. my coolant is 200-210 and my oil temp is around 230 all day. 230 is no problem for the synthetic right? Is there any truth about that bearing crap. Stay cool everybody
After it warms up, it is normal for the oil to run hotter than the water temp, especially without the factory oil heater. My coolant is usually lower than yours but my oil runs about the same. I use dino oil.
here we go again...yes, its a cooler--''normal'' operation is for oil temp to be 10-30* above the water temp, so it can only function as a cooler in that situation....and it is there to reduce oil breakdown at elevated temps
now stand back and smile at the obtuse theories that will be expounded about ''warming cold oil for ???? reasons.
I said "heater" with tongue in cheek, but in reality, they are plumbed just like my heater. In practice, the heat will be transfered from the warmer fluid to the cooler fluid. During warm up it's a heater, after the oil temp surpasses the water temp. it's a cooler.
