I went with the Dynaspark Gen 1. Apparently no longer red, mine is black, with a factory looking mustard cap cover. I was surprised to see the external RTV around the case. I thought the case itself was designed to be liquid proof, but maybe that is just extra protection. Had local vette mechanic install it. Also new wires, plugs, and a couple of seals on timing cover. Running well. Only issue is a couple of times, during rolling stops, when restarting in second gear, I got some hesistation at low RPM's. I can't recreate it though. Not sure what might cause that. No general hesitation issues after warmup, like I had with the old one, so big improvement.
Rich,
We no longer provide the red anodizing. Red anodizing is the weakest of all colors (they do vary in strength by color.) Red is also very prone to fading. We media blast our aluminum housings to bring the surface molecules closer together and then hard anodize them black for the toughest possible finish. The end result is a matte black housing.
The case is designed to be liquid proof. The RTV makes it air proof. Ambient air is much less dense than liquid obviously and in order for proper function the distributor must be totally sealed. Your hesitation issues could be related to tuning. It is difficult to say what it could be without knowing all the facts.
The black looked good, just not what I was expecting, based on the website. I'm sure your new site will provide updated photos & more details. The case is far nicer than MSD. A Dynaspark emblem on the cover might be good for business : ) No hesistation in 2nd on the last few drives, so maybe the computer took some time to adjust to all the new stuff.

The new website is in progress, it should be ready by the beginning of september (one week from today.) We contracted a graphic designer to do all the work, he has never done e-commerce shopping carts so that may take some extra time. For the time being we will have updated product photos and consolidated information regarding the products. We have considered custom potting for the distributor cap but that would only result in the customer paying more for aesthetics with the same functionality. Im glad you are happy with your new distributor.
