I spent over 25 years in the electronics industry and I can tell you you are just wrong. The only thing that makes lifetime warranties work is a consumer with no follow through.

No I`m not. I sell electronics, and damn good ones with nearly zero return with the quality built in. It`s the high profit low cost products that justifys the lifetime warrantee for a unspecting sucker. Otherwise they would be out of business as you cannot continue to give products away. Does your Vette have a lifetime warantee?

So back to my original recommendation of the Duralast Gold alternator. $120 exchange for a NEW alternator with lifetime replacement warranty. Tell me exactly WHERE the ripoff is!

I just called, 69 Riviera, "new" $169.95 + $20.00 core charge. Since when does new products require a $20.00 core charge? Only remans require exchanges. Is it that they can also make money on cores?

O. K. so I guess your approach to the tech board is to try and "shoot down" other peoples recommendations. So far all you have done is pontificate. What is your solution, or maybe you are lost and think this is the general board.

What has a '69 Riviera have to do with anything. We are talking about Trixie's Corvette right? Good Grief!
These are the guys I just bought my new alternator from. I went with a 160amp unit instead of the 200amp. When I spoke to the guys at Motor City Reman, they said the 160amp is far better for street use than the 200amp version (doesn't put out enough voltage at low RPM).
The only hang-up is that you have to upgrade the postive cable going to the alternator to the distrubution block - they suggest 4 gauge wire.

If you contact Motor City Remans you will find they sell a LOT of new units. You have to check the application.
I recently bought a NEW 105 amp alternator for my 93 Grand Prix. Works better than any other alternator I have ever had. And my 3.4L V-6 is notorious for over heating the alternator because of the placement of the unit on the engine.
