Lisle 12 pc. Torx Bit Set
RACE ON!!!
Said error I was not aware of? You make it sound like I made that post intentionally; just to mislead people. Talk about bull****.
RACE ON!!!
You preach to follow the book. I do, and now that's not good enough? I not only have to know the book, I have to know all of the ****ing corrections? Now THAT is bull****.
There was no dessention. And my post only has caused a problem between me and you, as usual. You just can't comment and move on, NO, you have to dig and dig and dig. You so revel in finding error. And then rub peoples noses in it - and you seem to genuinely enjoy doing it to me.
All you had to do was quote my statement, and say, "Wrong answer, there was a typo in the book, it's really a T55."
Which I would have replied, "Oh, that's interesting, I didn't realize that."
But no, you have to put me on the defensive, causing this thread to go to ****, and have the ***** to blame me for it.
You are one messed up individual.

I can understand the confusion! On another thread I saw a mention of replacing a teflon coated washer to prevent clicking (after replacing the hubs). In my parts manuals (both on CD and an actual GM parts manual), I see that the washer is not listed under the early Vettes up to and including 87 (my C4 is an 87). However, the 87 service manual shows the washer! So I guess I need these washers after all.
Sorry for causing the ruckus. Just trying to get to the bottom of some questions, and I know you guys are always a great help (as I hope I am to some small degree on the C1/C2 forum).

An alternative to the Cman and Lisle offerings are a set by OTC. I have them and they seem to put up with my abuse just fine. Made in th USA too. You can check them out here, or see if your tool store carries them:

Wasnt the lisle brand but the crafts-break kind.
I bought the 4 pack large chinese set from advance auto, long silver torx bits, forget the name of the toll brand/part,held up fine for a long time but then one day broke the T55 off.
Even the solid black ones I had bought from an local parts store in the package alone that said heat treated broke off at a tip and one shattered.
Most of these happened when some of the dang bolts would not come off without a breaker bar on it.Seat belt torx bolts are the worst to break free on 15+ year old cars.Torx and I arent friends!
I learned to clean the torx hole stars in the bolts with brake kleen first, then make sure the tool is firmly seated all the way in,and avoid pulling/pushing sideways on install or removal. Was a big reason I broke a few but the others were just not made very well in materials.
when i started the job of replacing my bearings, i stuck a t45 in the torx bolt. right away, i knew it was too loose, and something was not right. i then went to a t50, a little better, but not right. i didn't have a t55, and the only place open was the local hardware store. i bought a stanley t55 for $4.00 - worked great - no failures, and even used an impact wrench for removable. installed by hand and torqued to 65# (as i remember).
i think the t45 as stated might be a typo...
