The stock tire heights are the same from front to back on a stock '96. If this relationship changes, does that cause problems from the Traction Control System? The reason I ask this is I know that it can cause problems on a C5 and I'm thinking about using oem C5 Z06 wheels with 255/40/17 (25" dia) and 295/35/18 (26.1" dia) BFG gForce KDs on a '96 vert.
Of course, I have to buy the '96 vert first.....but I'm working on that.
I'm concerned about the 1 inch difference in tire height from from to back. I already own these wheels and tires and would like to use them. If the tire height needs to be the same from front to back, I could always buy a pair of 275/40/17 tires for the front and sell my 255/40/17 fronts. Thanks!

I was nervous about this.....so I used 245-45-17 up front and
285-35-18 in the rear....very close to equal heights.....when I went to C5 wheels, not Z06....
I am now using 275-35-18 drag radials on the rear, still nearly equal heights front to rear......
I asked the same question......never got a good answer, but I did get one response that a big difference, drag skinnies up front and slicks in rear caused problem...so I went the conservative route..no problems so far with ASR or anti-lock...
I don't drive aggressively in the twisties or autocross, but I think these tires actually degraded my handling a little and don't work as well with the stock suspension as the OEM sizes..
What the heck is your ASR doing on in the first place? When I first got my 96 I thought it would be a good thing. After many times of having the thing activate at the most inopportune times I got used to to just shutting it off when I first start the car. One of the pre-flight operations now.
If the ASR didn't try to push my foot up it might be alright but it's nerve wracking when you feel that resistance down there.
Well going by experience, if they are off by a lot(I don't know what a lot would be) the ASR and ABS will disengage.
I know this from hanging with Mackey, he had 26" tires up front and 28's out back and after about a half mile or so, the Service ABS/ASR light would come on, and ASR was disabled, we never tried to see if ABS actually was.
Wheels w/o the sensors will cause the lights to come on. I have some 91 rims I use for autox sometimes and they make the light come on. When I put the skinnies up front, the light eventually comes on, but not as quickly as with the 91s. I have zero problems with the c5z06 rims.
