This all started when the new brake pads were installed. So, I need to know if this is normal with Vette's. When backing let's say out of the driveway or pulling out without pressing the gas (other words just coasting) the car is barely moving weather in R or D. I don't remember this problem before the pads just trying to track the vibration, sluggish and hesitation.
When backing out of the driveway it's about 2 mph at best without giving the gas. Does this sound like the pads are not seated correctly? Man it's hot outside. Thanks.
Also, I got on a back road to punch it. Haven’t been able to do that in about a week but when going 70, I floored it and it didn’t feel like the car I had a boner for. It felt like my old Ford Probe GT. I believe this whole problem is one certain thing maybe two. Such as Cat Covert being stopped up or U-Joints.
If it started with new pads id start looking there first, and i reckon maybe start by checking to see how smooth the calipers move on their retainer pins. Jack up then front and turn each wheel to see if it turns nice and smooth and relativly free, then when you go to check the rear, jack both sides and have it in neutral. You may even have a siezed piston in one of the calipers.
Start with this list:
Does the car pull either way?
Does it require more presure on the brake pedal to stop the car?
Do the wheels rotate freely when you have them off the ground?
Do the calipers move smoothly on their guide/retainer pins?
See what you come up with there and it will be easier to start pointing fingers

Another couple items just sprung to mind, add these to your check:
Park brake adjustment
Also the adjustment between the brake booster and the master cylinder (long shot, but unless you find something else, dont rule it out)

I got the brake booster replaced about 5 months ago and will check that adjustment. The car has started to pull I believe to the left but could be right. At the moment I can't remember. It's not bad just a slight pull. I've got balanced and alignement a couple of times. It rained this morning and I took it out with no problems. It drove like it was made for but now that it's dry again the problem is still there but not as bad as a couple of days ago for some reason. I'll go check the bad calipers. I checked the front calipers a couple of days ago and I could spin the tires about 3 full spins but when I pressed the brake and tried to spin it I couldn't even spin the tires twice.
Righto, sounds as though it could be more from the rear. Have you had someone else push the brake pedal so you can see how the calipers are moving? Do this with the rears and the park brake OFF, and make sure they are releasing enough to allow free rotation. If not then look to park brake adjusment. Also if you havent done so allready, lube the guide pins on the rear calipers with some high temp grease. If you had someone else do the job, dont assume they did it properly, especially since its not working right!!
I have found my worries with the noise and vibrator problems. Like the movie Slingblade, "you just gotta go out there and tinker around with it."
I was about to jack the car up because my other problem that started tonight was gone for some reason. Anyway, I had the car running and was turnning the tires back and forth as far left and right as they would go. When I got to the end of either way with the tires I heard the thumping noise that I've been describing and dealing with for the past 6 weeks. Yea, I know but I don't have the time so I have to weekend warrior it.
Now would this be a tir rod I'm hearing? I can do it as much as I want with the sterring wheel to one side all the way. I'm hear by myself tonight and aint' go no help. Thanks. So it probably not the calipers after all. I'll go jack her up to take a look. I may drive to Las Vegas next week if I can fix her.
I can't find that popping noise. I was gone all day and haven't been able to look for it. But last night I got up under the car twice and tightend some 10mm and other bolts that were loose but couldn't find the culprit. It's gonna take another body to find this one. It's a loud popping noise when the steering wheel is turned all the way either way. It's pop, pop,pop....
Is there any feeling of it through the steering wheel? Check everything front suspension related, and probably drain the fluid from the power steering and refill with new stuff.
