Default Wheels for an 85?

This is an ad for a Set of 2(18x8.5) and 2(19x10) polished factory take off wheels. These are complete with center caps for sale. It seems like an awful good deal. Check them out at the below link. Could I get spacers for these and make them fit my 85? Thanks all.

You need to know the offset before you put down the green for those wheels. Spacers are not going to cut it. You need adapters. On my 18" wheels for my 85 the offset is 50mm. In order to get them to fit to the fender for the flush look I like I had to use 1.25" adapters. They can be had on ebay for a good price and the quality is the same as VBP for less.

Like goldeneye said its not that simple. The 85 has a 38mm offset. What offset are the wheels you are looking at. message the seller before you buy. maybe he or she has part # you can check

John...

Wheels + new tires + adapters = more than a set of AFS with the correct offset and a new set of tires. I say AFS only because they're available with the correct offset (there are undoubtedly others). I picked up a set (of ZR-1 style) new for under $500 a little over a year ago. I would also bet the tires will be considerably less expensive for 17's than 18/19's, all else being equal.

Just something to consider... Factory take-offs are on the other hand very high quality wheels and will usually hold their value better in the long run.

Good luck with your decision... GUSTO

I emailed the owner trying to get a part number or at least a year model that they came off of. I just thought they were a good looking wheel and I'm wanting to upgrade my stock 85s. Shinobi-X has a set of the 1.25" spacers for sale. Has anyone else seen these on a early C4? Maybe Gusto is right, just buy a set of the AFS off of ebay. I just thought maybe this would be a little bit different.

19's have been done before. The wheel and tire are the same diameter as a 16" wheel as long as you go with the right size tire. Only you'll have a smaller tire wall than 18's or 17's or 16's. Yep just a little cheaper to go with the correct offset for 17's although I do know on ebay they are now getting the correct offset for 18's as well. You have so many choices now that you can most certainly get a nice set of wheels for little to nothing anymore.

That's my price, a little to nothing. I just happen to have almost that much. Does anyone have any pics with 18s and 19s. Please share them.

I have not read whole thread, but here go.

I would go 18 but 19 will be too much and looks totally mismatch.

u might go 17 front and 18 rear, now that would be good combo.

U need 36-40 mm offset if no spacer's choosen.

Get the high polished wheels instead of chrome unless ur car paint is pretty good in shape otherwise again it looks mismatch.

I prefer C5 Z06 style wheels better but ZR1 looks little musculer than Z06 wheels.

ZR1 style polished (not chrome) will cost cheaper than Z06 chrome wheels.

If u go more than 17" wheels than u need caliberate speedometer either buying a Dakota digi box( 165 bucks) or drive/driven gears change.

Here is my car pic, fronts are chrome 17" 275 tire width and rear one's are polished 11" wide with 315's . U judge. Both are 17". Car is lowered 1" from rear.:

Hope this helps.

Sorry Sami I disagree about the speedo calibration. If you get the right size tire combo for your rims than there is no difference between 16's, 17's, or 18's. I do agree about the 19's though. Would not look right but again it has been done. I have 285/35/18 currently and the difference between my old 16" rims with 255/50/16 is minimal at best. Sorry I don't know the exact difference but I did not need to recalibrate my speedo in anyway. The only difference you will notice is sidewall. 18's have way less sidewall than 16's. I don't know the size of 17's to make them the same diameter as 16's. Maybe someone else will chime in. tuckjm I have 18's all the way around but do a search and you'll find lots of 17-18 combos.

Well its all about total wheel ht i guess. But with those wheels we dont have much choice anyway.

Golden eye i might agree with u, but thats what other's told me before.

If u put 18" with 275/35/18 than it would be same ht with 17" 275/45/17 or might be close. Observe sidewall #'s 35 and 45.
