Default C4 lowering question

If I were to lower my 88 coupe could I just lower the rear to more or less level the car? I've seen the lowering bolts for the rear but I've also heard of moving shims on the rear leaf. Which way would be best? I've recently put 17x11/315-35 17s on and would be concered about dropping it too much and crashing the tires into the fenders. Thanks for any suggestions.

If you're going to lower the rear, then get the bolts, but why would you just want to do the rear? With a full tank of gas, and two passengers, the rear sits down about an inch anyway, and at highway speeds, it drops a little bit more. If you lower the rear to sit level with nobody in the car, it's going to squat when there is somebody in the car.
Also, allignment is a MUST when you fool around with the suspension.
