Default OBDII data logging program of choice??

I've read through the forum and have seen some good things about the AutoTap software. Probably going to have pcmforless custom tune her but wanted to view the before and after data along with being able to adjust and change some parameters as needed. Anyone have first hand experience good or bad or have some software they currently use that they are happy with? Thx gents.

What year vehicle.

HPtuners, and EFIlive are nice ones. Hptuners seems like it won't work on everything obd2 generic while EFIlive will.

Hey Alvin, 96 LT4. I was on your site earlier filling out your datasheet for when I'm ready to have you do the tune. I'm looking for user friendly software that is thorough in its data recording but also may allow for some minor changes/adjustments on my end. That's the reason why I was looking into the autotap. But that is just one piece of software I have run across so far. Open to suggestions. I will look into the few you mentioned. Thx

I asked this same question in the tuning section and didn't get anywhere. I'm interested to see what people say. I was looking at "auterra" at one time. It is said to run right off the Palm hand held I already have and also on PC. I'm planning on doing some tuning to my car along with just wanting some kind of OBDII scanning tools and software for general vehicle diagnosis. :

I use Datamaster TTS on my 95 with OBDII connector. It records a lot of info and it seems very usefull but I'm still learning. http://www.ttspowersystems.com/ I am not sure if it will work on your 96 though. It looks like the applications list ends at 95 for the y-body.

I use autotap on my '96. It's pretty easy to use. You can select whatever parameters you want, and save various configurations so you can log different stuff for different situations (WOT tuning, normal driving, etc).

You can view the data realtime in tables or gauges, and log the data at the same time.

It doesn't have any built-in analysis tools -- I'm not sure if others do. However, you can export logged data into CSV files so you can use Excel to analyze data, build graphs, etc.

The only slight annoyance I have with it is how it reports fuel trims (BLMs). Everyone else on the planet uses 128 as the '0' reference point. Autotap reports the data in percentage from '0'. This is actually more logical to me -- just makes it difficult to compare your data with others who are expecting to see it on the other scale.

Mark, thanks for the info...I was leaning towards the autotap. The only thing for me was it didn't appear that you would be able to tune and/or adjust parameters. For $200 it seems that data logging and code checking was all you would get. If you can actually do more, that sounds great. I have not had a chance to call them yet but will tomorrow.

Just for clarification, you CANNOT adjust the car's computer with an autotap, only view/log data and clear codes.

The configuration I mentioned was in reference to picking what parameters to view/log and how to display them. You can't adjust your car's tuning with an autotap. For that you'll need the OBD2 Version of LT1-Edit (I think Tunercat has an OBD2 version also).

Sorry for the confusion!

It seems to me you'd be better off going to a reputable tuner and having them tune it on a dyno. At least the car is under operating conditions. I'm a little leary of tinking with a car's program without having the benefit of seeing how the change affects it.
