Lately the driver side power window (94 coupe ) would not work entirely. It would go up or down in little lenghts and I had to wait a while for the window to work a little bit again. Very annoying!
I dismanteled the door elements today to check for a short in the switch or some broken wire and everything was ok.
I followed all the way to the motor and I belive it to be the culprit.
When I push the up or down switch there is voltage, so the problem must be the motor.
But I do not know how to check it.
The factory manual will tell me to replace it, but I do not think that is a good option yet.
Is there something I can do to be really sure that the motor is not working? Maybe check current or something?
Ideas?

If the motor is overloaded, it will pull too many amps and trip a thermal fuse. Could be the motor dying from a shorted coil, or could be a binding up gear or regulator.
Tried your suggestion Bogus, did not work, I thought that a false contact could cause it.
So I removed the motor and took it to a technisian.
I was impressed, just by seeing the part 3 feet away he was able to tell it was a Vette motor, and described the problem before I did.
I must asume that this is a frequent problem. He had it working in less than 6 hours. Too bad I could not see what he did to get it fixed.
I have a working power window but it is very noisy right now.
