Default "higher amp alternator up grade wire"

hi there guys,
i need to buy a new alernator for my 1991 corvette to replace the 105 amp and were looking at buying the the power master 140 amp from summit racing for $149.95 which is cheap as corvette central sell the same one for $199.00!
there is also another place called "motor city reman" who also sell varoius alternators say like a 160 amp or even 200 amp and there cost is $130.00 u.s but shipping for me is more than the summit racing shipping so i am going for summit racing instead!
both types of alternators come with 12 months warranty any way!
infact they are still the factory # gm cs130 model but with boosted upgrade parts in them!
any way i am told that when i install it i need to upgrade or add a larger positive wire for it?
they said i would need to go for a 6 guage six wire upgrade for it!

my question is can i run a separate wire from alternator back down to the starter solonoid to get the power?

i am still running the side post mount battery and cannot fit wire under positive side terminal, so the guy at powermaster said i can run the wire from the starter solonoid!

will this be ok to do and will i still get the power i need?

thanks and any help would be much appreciated guys!
have a good weekend there!

Whether and where you need upgraded wiring depends on the load not the alternator.

If you are just replacing a bad alternator with a bigger one, then you don't need any bigger wires.

If you have installed a big stereo system then you need large wires between the alternator, the battery, and the stereo system.

You would only need to upgrade starter wiring if you have some aftermarket starter that draws a lot of power, which I guess could be the case if you had a super-high compression engine, but plenty of people run 12:1 on LT1s with stock starters and alternators, so I doubt that you have such a need.

replace the wire dont mess around or you will fry stuff.....
I used 0 gauge which is humongous but 2/4 gauge will work, this is with 160-200 amp I fried all kinds of stuff on my jeep gc stock wires just too flimsy for higher than stock amperage
