Default What is this part??

While driving home today, had the part in the following pics, fail and empty my cooling system. Looking for the correct terminology so I can find it tomorrow, it doesn't seem to show up in my Helms manuals. I am still looking though. Thought I'd run it by here , since you guys usually help more than the books. Pics suck but I think you'll get the idea. in one it is together in the other it's in two pieces.

Where's it located? It goes inline from the water pump to the heater core and has an arrow on it that says heater core in the direction of the arrow.
It failed while passing another car. Not really getting on it but under acceleration. I have just finished flushing my system and added a bottle of royal purple "ice" . Last week. Drove to Houston this past week and still running what I would call warm but not overly so. Cooling running about 224° Oil about 245° and Trans 240° But hey it's 103° all month long. Sorry about the crappy pics but I appreciate any input on this .
Just resized pics. Sorry guys, new they were crappy , didn't realize they were huge.

Since no one else has chimed in...
I don't know what the part is... However here is a address where you can download the complete parts manual (just like the GM dealer)...
Get your free GM parts list at: http://jobyteknik.homeip.net/corvette/carfiche/

Yes, your picture sucks... You also need to paste them into MS Paint and reduce them to 40% (goto MS Paint, image, the stretch/skew, set to 40%)
Just a thought....

that is the heater check valve. It goes on the lines feeding the heater core... If it's anything like my 1992, it is near the surge tank (firewall tank).

Please include the year of your car in the post.

Thanks, that's what I thought it might be, but the guts are blown out of it and just looks like a hollow tube, so wanted your advice. Oh, its a 95 LT1, in my sig.at the bottom.
