CFI-EFI,

you are correct, I mixed them up as I have a set of 2149's in a box on the shelf and got used to looking at the number.

I just looked at them and although they are about 5 years old from when I ordered them.. got these instead of the non- smog headers initially then opted to can the AIR system for easier plug changes and since I had no cats ont he car it just was a waste of engine bay realestate.

however I am looking at them and they are coated both inside and out. maybe they stopped since 2001? but these are definately coated both sides. and if memory serves so were the 2 sets of non smog headers. hmmm

anyways..

ALLT4,

I think you are making a wise choice! 1 3/4" headers are enough for a 427 to breath well. I will say this.. the ZR1 headers utilize a 2" primary..lol some big farkers!

Chris

Default headers

Just a note to look at MELROSE (supporting Member) I just posted a comment in the other header section. They ones are for a c-4 L98 with long tube JET HOT COATED,no cats, no air fittings, no EGR, no resonator, 3" with a Xtube real true DUALS. Take a look at their web site for some pics. WRO87

Most DDs don't pull 3 grand hole shots on the way to work, from every stop light. FIRST, you have to GET to 3000 rpms, if you even intend to. I repeat, do you drive a dyno to work, or your car?

The 1 7/8 made a few more lbs ft than ALL the headers tested. I'm not saying they are better for producing low end torque. All I'm saying is they aint gonna "kill" it like everybody thinks. A 5 or 6 lbs ft loss is not "killin" it to me. And Im not talkin from 3000 up, more like 1500 up, its not going to affect the driveability like you would think. They're not gonna make you feel like you turned your 350 into a V6. Thats all I'm sayin. They aint gonna kill the low end torque. And no, I dont drive my dyno to work.

I have a heads/cam LT1 with the original issue you have. With the stock manifolds the dyno numbers and track times were not much to talk about it.

I bought 1 3/4" TPIS headers and had a custom 3 inch exhaust built behind it. There were no installation problems with these headers, the plug looms have drilled and tapped holes in the flanges, and the outside only coating is fine so far. I park the car in the garage to keep it out of the rain and it's no daily driver. I'm highly pleased with the TPIS and the torque boost I get is in mid range revs where I can use it most on blasting curvy roads. Very happy with the TPIS!

But, you'll never see a GP on TPIS products. Hardly anyone buys from TPIS these days. If you even mention the vendor's name you'll get blasted here.

Exotic Muscle has a GP going right now, and that's as close to a crowd approved product as you will find for a C4. You can make it fit with 2 out of 3 of the AC/Alt braces fitting back up to the engine. You might even be able to change spark plugs with the EM headers. Like I say, EM is crowd approved.

Again, this an issue in which I don't know what is the best, but can tell you to not waste your money on the real expensive stepped headers from EM.

I made over 480 rwhp with plain ol Hooker Super Comps and made exactly the same from EM's 1 3/4th to 1 7/8th stepped with a merger collector that has a 2 1/2 reducer in it. Lot's of bucks for no hp.

Haven't given up completely on the headers as it may require a cam change to get anything out of them but I also had issues with fit making it more money and trouble that they are worth. Need now to remove the passenger side header and fix my air conditioning box that I had to grind on to get them to fit. Nice to have air for a change.

EM is good quality, just don't believe any hype that does not have dyno documentation to back it up. If the people selling the headers can't provide documentation, then they don't have it and are just talking smack.

Which would you rather have on your car?

EM Long Tubes...

Stainless Works...
i'm glad you posted this as these are the two headers i'm looking into right now as well. i seem to be leaning towards the EM but what do y'all think for a Daily Driver on a 95 LT1? EM or SS and what size?
