Default Fuel Injector Testing

I tried the search but couldn't find much...

My manual tells me that I have bad injector(s), and so I need to ohm test them. I can't seem to figure out how to get the top off though, and I'm afraid to force 20 year old plastic.

What's the trick to getting the connector off of the injectors?

1985 stock L98 if it matters...

TIA

Push in on the wire clips while gently lifting the plug upward.

hmmm... wire clip... I must have been looking at the wrong piece, I was pushing on a plastic tab... I will go recheck.

Did you use any specific tools to do that?

Now is the time to replace those connectors. They only cost about $3.50 each. When I tried to remove mine the 18 year old plastic crumbled. You should have a metal clip on the connector just slid a small regular srew driver under the clip and pry up. It's not a big dael.

LOL, Dont use screw driver. Use finger and push the metal clip in (toward the injector) then the connector slides right up. Notice that the guy that used the screwdriver also had to replace his connectors.

'85s don't have a clip to push on to release the connector from the injector. Use a small tool to lift the wire clip off of the injector. Be careful and not let it fly off the connector. You can upgrade the old style connector to the new style which, as mentioned, can be removed by pushing on the clip. Upgrading will require, cutting and resoldering the connectors into the loom.

Yeah... appearently the '85's are different from other years. I found that out now. I have no wire to push on, its all freaking plastic, with a small wire retainer on the inside.

I just pulled. The clips and connectors came off undamaged. Thanks for all the input. I don't plan on replacing the connectors, they look fine.
