Based on my previous discussion and your feedback, I am replacing my shocks this week to see if that will help in solving radical skipping on bumps. I have checked the allignment and tires previously and they are fine. Is there anything in the suspension that the mechanic should check on while installing the shocks as any other possible issue?
Thanks,
DrRich
I have seen posts on skipping on bumps. Last I read, it was said that what a 94 does. Mine does the same and wondered about the shocks myself just recently again.
Unlike the older cars where you can bounce it and get an idea of the health of the shocks, the vette has stiff suspension and I don’t think that works with this car. So how can you tell if the shocks are really bad or feeling weak, age? Would like to know your results if you change them.
As far a checking other things, the rubber bushings are always the main items of interest. As well as anything loose by rocking and pulling on the wheel and assemblies
Another thought might be "frame flex" or "bump steer". Its a C-4 condiction where when you hit a bump, the vette steers in the direction of the bump in the road. Its corrected best with one of the Forums sponsors R & D Racings products.
I changed the shocks and it only ran smoother---purchased a harness bar and that tightened up the suspension and viola, no more bump steer.
