1984 crossfire Any engine performance Upgrades?????
I have a 1984 crossfire that I am looking for any and all info that can help me beef up, add more horse power, do anything to make this car faster, without any major engine mods. Has anyone added either Nitrous, a blower, or supercharger to a crossfire. If so, how, any pictures, guides, what company did you buy it from, what's the web address. I need every once of info i can gain!!!
Same as "port the heads", but you do it to the intake manifold.
There are few, specific, Crossfire, products offered for sale. I consider the Crossfire, a "Do It Yourself" engine, for just that reason. Underneath that little understood, and greatly misunderstood, intake manifold is a very conventional, medium performance small block Chevy engine. It will respond to all the "tricks" that work on any other engine. With a little imagination and sweat, but not so much money, you can improve the performance quite a bit.
CFI-EFI is right. The car is a "do it yourself" car. I've learned more by owning this car than any other vehicle I've owned. If you can get a FSM manual for is as well. With that and the available information here you will learned a lot.
Just a few things you can do: gears, headers, shift kits, port the intake,X-ram. It all depends on what you want to spend. The simple add ons don't do much such as, throttle positioning switch, hypertech chip, and a few others. Do some searches on the CFI or even check out some profiles to see what that person has done with there 84. You'll have a lot of fun doing the upgrades.
Take a look at this. If you can find Corvette Enthusiast for August it lists out some of the mods http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ight=crossfire
Also go to www.crossfire.webhop.net. As CFI has stated, its an SBC. So it responds to all the same mods. But like any other ECM controlled motor, you need to tune for optimum performance.
