I ran a quick search and couldn't find anything applicable to me so any advice would be helpful. My driver side window decided not to go down this morning, but the passenger works as good as it did the day I got the car. The window never hinted at wear, b/c they were equally fast up and down, and have never given me a problem. Strangly the one just won't move now. When the button is depressed it doesn't make a noise, or shake, or move, or anything. It's just dead, like a child lock or something. Any suggestions?
I checked the fuse in the panel and it seemed to be working but it is incased in metal so I can't physically see any difference. But since both windows are ran through one fuse I figured it couldn't possibly be blown. Is there something Im over looking here?
I do not know much about 96's, so my suggestion may not be appropriate. Since no one has yet to respond, I figured that I may as well give you a couple of suggestions. If possible, reverse the driver and passenger window switches. If the other now works, you know that you have a bad switch. Unfortunately, from what you wrote, it sounds like you may have a worn motor. Usually, they start to slow before they stop, so I'm hoping it's not the motor.
I'll try swapping the switches now that I have mastered the art of C4 door panel removal. The motor never slowed, as a matter of fact, it was really really fast compared to my other cars and both sides moved at the same pace unlike my slowing C5's windows. I'm thinking the switch may be bad so ill fiddle with it before swapping and I might be able to figure something out by digging around a little. I am just surprised this happened to someone else on here before?
