Default Passive lock ???

I'm having a problem with my keyless entry on my 96. If I hit the open door button the doorlocks will unlock, lock, horn beep, unlock, lock, horn beep and on & on. Doesn't seem to matter if I push any button I want it will keep on doing it. The only way to stop it is to open the door when it is in the unlock position and it will stop. I had a real problem even turning the passive off. It finally will shut off and I can get in by just using the key. I just better not accidentally hit the remote open!
Anyone have an idea how to re-program the system or ???
Thanks in advance

In the 1994 Manual:

1. Move all transmitters out of range.

2. Turn the ignition on.

3. Push "TRIP ODO" on the Driver Information Center twice.

4. Within five seconds press and hold "FUEL INFO" until the "PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY" light comes on.

5. Turn the ignition off, but leave the key in the ignition, the "PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY" light should begin to flash to show the system is in programming mode.

6. Bring one transmitter into range, The light will stop flashing and stay on to show that the code is stored.

7. Move the transmitter out of range. The light should start flashing again.

8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 with each additional transmitter.

The programming mode will shut off if:

You don't program any transmitters for two minutes.
You take the key out of the ignition or turn the ignition on.
You have programmed three transmitters.

This is the programming procedure but your receiver is responding to your transmitter (key fob). I don’t think this is going to help you because it seems like it is already programmed. Re-programming does not change the firmware (software) in the processor chip in the PKE receiver. I don’t think this will work either but disconnect the battery cable, wait and reconnect. It might do some sort of reset (cross all your fingers). This will not change the programming of your key fob, it will still communicate. But if you like, go thru the steps and do a re-programming.

After all that the probability of replacing the PKE receiver is high. It does connect to the CCM but they are pretty reliable and lots of PKE receivers krap out….like mine. There are many varying symptoms but not have heard of yours as you describe it. You could be the leader in a new direction. Best of luck, chime back in with any thoughts.

Thanks for the reply. I will try and re-program it tomorrow. Seeing that you are the smart one!!
Where is the switch located that controls the electric fans on my 96 LT4? I have tested the relays and they are fine, so I let it just keep on getting hotter. Finally at about 225 the fans finally cut in! So I'm thinking it should be the swich. Any help on this matter?
Thanks in advance.

Have you replaced the battery in your remote? Does the passive work when you walk out of range? If so it could be that the battery is so weak the PKE reciever think you've walked away while standing there.

Then it sees the remote again and unlocks.

ORRRR, maybe a door switch is getting iffy, do you have any problems with the interior lights coming on at random times, you might only notice that at night over bumps. When the motor for the door lock activates it could be causing that switch to make and break with the vibration, causing a repetitive cycle.

As far as the fans, they're working normally.

There is no "switch" for the fans. They are controlled by the computer. And yours coming on at 225 is normal

Note: The fans will also come on with the a/c turned on. So, if your sitting in stop and go traffic and the temps bother you just turn on the a/c and you should see the temp. drop back down.
