Default O2 sensor replacement.......LEFT/RIGHT?? >>

It was "chugging" real bad in a cruise mode, step on the gas it ran "ok", put the scan tool on it and found the right O2 sensor value hovering at 1.045V +/- .01 > not good!!! (Thought it was something worse)

So my question is, what is "right" in a car > from sitting in the drivers seat or standing in the front of the car?

I keep getting conflicting answers from the local "mechanics".

I have two sensors to replace it, but I am not changing both since it is a used to used situation. If they were new I'd just change both.

Can someone clarify on what "side" of the car RIGHT really means according to my scan tool.

Thanks

Right is right when you are sitting in the seat. (its on the passenger side)

The RIGHT side of the car is the passenger side of the car.... unless you have the hood up and are looking inside the engine compartment, all that stuff is at a mechanics perspective, thus the brake booster is on the right side or drivers side. Hope this clears things up. When in doubt just avoid using right and left and go with drivers and passenger side.

Thanks guys!!

I hear what you are saying, it was because the scan tool said right and I was like WTF........LOL

I can see it from the top but still have to take the tire off to get in there to remove it off the shorty header.........

Big time saver!!

Love this place and thanks again!

Why not get two new 02 sensors and be done with it? You can get the Bosch units at AutoZone for under $20 a pop.

57.99 each

And I have two that I know are good from a forum member. $0 vs $100 plus.

If goes bad again, then I'll just eat the two new ones.

Those are autozone prices in my area.

I checked.........

sounds about right. Unfortunately I replaced the sensor and that is not the problem. What a waste of Fin time. Looks like the ECM is bad. The service manual shows it connected directly to the ECM which I just replaced at the beginning of the summer. So I removed and broke the connector of a perfectly good sensor.

It was in the header so tight it took 1/2 breaker bar with pb blast and warming the engine up to get it out............

oh well, time to search for another ecm........

Right equals starboard. Left is port.

I will have to disagree.

Whenever I refer to the position of something within the car, it's ALWAYS from the drivers perspective. Never anything else, cause that only leads to major confusion.

Oh, forgot, avast, matey's....

Damn. My local AutoZone carries the Bosch O.E.M. style connector 02 sensors for $19.99 each (limited lifetime warranty included).

The AC/Delco sensors from the dealers are 80.99 each locally.

You can't beat the CF hook-up, though. It's saved me some serious cash time and again, too.
