Default cooling question

I wanted to thank those of you who helped me get my 92 on the road again. Now I am having cooling trouble. If the AC is on I don't seem to have a problem. Fans are on and temp stay in the middle. If I am tooling around with out the AC the analog temp will peg and the digital will be in the 230's and I can't hear the fan running. Any suggestion swill help. I have replaced the radiator. Thanks.

The fan comes on at 228 F without the a/c on, so if you stay below that temp, your car is operating normally and the coolant temp is not excessive nor harmful to your engine. The analog temp gauge and the digital temp gauge measure temperature in two different places on the engine and because of this, they will never agree. I own an 87, so I would recommend you read your owners manual and see what it says about the operating temp and which gauge to pay attention to. My 87 manual says to shut the engine off at 260 F and let it cool down.
