Replacing the windshield wiper motor

I have to replace the wiper moter on my 85, I removed the 3 bolts holding unit to firewall but don't know where to go from there--I forgot there was more involved than bolting and unbolting...lol

One nut needs to be removed that is accessed through the grill in the windshield cowl area. It should then pop right off after unplugging the 3 connections.

Oh, what a fun project Not. You have to make sure your wiper linkages are off as well. I completely rebuilt mine a few months ago. You have to be houdini to get that bottom bolt out, and even worse putting it back in. Be sure you remove the drivers side cowl screen. When reassembling, remember to re-adjust the wiper arms. I chose to clean up the ball links, and grease them good before reassembly. I used carb cleaner to clean mine up, out of the car of course. Ended up in the ER getting carb cleaner outta my eye's at 1:00 in the morning because I forgot to use my goggles.

If the pitman arm is seized onto the motor shaft (as mine was) you are going to have a long session of wiggling and trying different ways to get the thing to come out. Good luck.
