My 96 LT 4 is 1 of the 968 spare tire deletes. Other than the aux hardtop option this is the rarest options. I'm surprised as I thought more people would have ordered the spare tire delete with the run flat option. My question is more on how much weight is saved ?That would be minus spare tire, no tire carrier hardware, no jack hardware and any other misc. weight that would be associated with spare tire delete. How much weight we talking here? Also anyone out there with an LT4 with this option let me know. I know there are some out there but as of yet I haven't found another LT 4 with this option. Thanx....G
Mine has the spare tire delete. My guess is it probably saves about 40 pounds...although I've never weighed it. Does your still have the collision reinforcement brace where the spare would be?

So they replaced 40lbs of spare tire stuff with, what, 30 lbs of reinforcement?
Smart people....
My 95 vert was one of 418 spare tire delete options. Not sure how much weight it saves. Probably would have to compare weights of your car with the same year/model with the spare tire. My guess is not much if any. The I beam is made of aluminum I believe.
Its hollow aluminum, 7.5 pounds. Spare tire with rim I got to think 40lbs. minimum , the carriers I looked at for others appeared to be steel and looked very thick and sturdy i'm again guessing 15lbs. but I think its more and the jack and assembly 5lbs. Again I think these are on the low end of weight. The way they put the hollow aluminum piece in actually helps to tighten the body. I ran auto x with it off and the back end was noticibly loose. With it in and tighted down there was a big difference with the way the rear handled, noticeably tighter. I thought someone might have weighed these parts at some time. Thanx....G

The reinforcement is very light. Much lighter than a spare tire.
I've never weighed my spare, but the carrier is not metal.
The runflats weigh more than a regular tire, so I think the weight difference wouldn't be a lot, at least not enough to make a difference.

Hey Frank, you pay these women to hold on to you so you can use the pic as your avatar. Not too bad.
My rim weigh's just over 28 lbs, I bent one of my brackets so I can't get my tray off to weigh. This was on my house scale, so there might be 3 lb. +/- difference.

Especially when you consider one is sprung weight, and the other is unsprung weight.
