Default What size is it?

So I am backing the 85 Vette in the driveway and all of a sudden I hear a grinding in the rear pass. wheel, to the point it stops the car. Jacked it up took off wheel. That's as far as I got. What size is the nut that holds the wheel bearings in place? Looks like about an 1.5", or is it metric? Do you think that's what it could be from my description?

righty tighty lefty loosey. Both sides. Mine took 600 and 1200 ftlbs to break loose.

Break em loose with the car still on the ground. That way, if you have no luck, you can drive to pep boys or something.

Pep Boys will have the socket if Lowe's doesn't.

In extreme situations I've had to use a floor jack on the end of a pipe extension or wrench.
