So then, you belive that it is power and not torque that accellerates the car. Not saying that you (or the article) are right or wrong, but this is contrary to the article.

I know I am correct......
It is not really an issue as simple torque or horsepower.....
Couple of basic concepts.....
Rear wheel horsepower = Motor horsepower
Rear wheel torque = Motor torque times gear ratio
Rear wheel torque is actually the force that accelerates the car
Maximum rear wheel torque occurs when rear wheel horsepower is maximum and remember rear wheel horsepower is equal to motor horsepower...
So the ideal CVT is when the motor is kept at its maximum horsepower which then maximizes both rear wheel horsepower and rear wheel torque at all mph

Power.
The constant torque motor is still decreasing in rear wheel torque as the CVT ratio increases as the vehicle speed increases.
The power transmitted to the rear wheels however, will remain constant, no matter what gear ratios are behind the motor, CVT or otherwise.
