Default amsoil vs Mobile one

OK you oil experts. I don't know anything about amsoil. Is it better than mobile 1. I figure if mobile one comes from the factory, it must be meant for my engine.
What do you think??

If you have been using Mobil 1 stick with it. If you change every 3 or 4K, any good quality motor oil is fine.

I wonder how much $ Mobil pays to GM so their oil can be the factory fill?

Just wondering!

It still doesn't change the fact that M1 is the factory fill for Mercedes Benz and Porsche.

Whatever they do pay, it's irrelevant, because the product is good.

As for M1 v. Amsoil? I suspect they are very near the same quality. I am sure that in some abstract measure, one is better, and visa-versa, but in the real world, we will never notice.

I change the M1 in my 92 about every 4k~5k miles.

I am outta this one...

As Vader said, any good synthetic is fine. The only reason I use Mobil1 is it sells for $19.95 for five qts. at Walmart always.

I've used both M1 and Amsoil. Both are excellent synthetics.

I like Amsoil as they were the first in synthetics but M1 is much easier to get.

I think that it must be meant for your engine. Just don't change it every 3,000 miles.

I believe the payment does cloud the issue.

My friend's new CE LT4 had a blown engine after 5,000 miles, while using the Mobil 1. GM replaced the engine. GM never did conclude why this happened.

Mobil is the company that was selling their Blend (Mobil 1) as a full synthetic many years ago. There was an asterisk at the bottom of the label: except for petroleum carrier oil.

With me being in the business, this did not win me over as a distributor/customer.

I am glad to see they straightened out their act.

I still have a small issue with all of their mileage oils now. You have to be very careful and diligent. Be sure to read the entire label.

I recently decided to try the Valvoline high mileage synthetic. I DO NOT LIKE IT. It stays hot and will not cool down as fast as Mobile 1 does.

I seriously doubt that oil failure caused this. Oil has to really age before it breaks down to the point where it kills a motor, and then, the evidence is clear.
