I have been researching this question as well. There are a bunch of exhaust threads you can do a search on. The impression I get is that all performance mufflers will improve performance slightly and some increase noise significantly. Flowmaster has several choices. Go to their website, they have a graph that compares their different mufflers.
for what its worth if you are interested i have a stock system with flowmasters on the back off of a 96 for sale not sure what is worth
its in great shape.
any pics? and what are you asking? my car needs a new system bad, I was just going to get some cheapo jobbers but I might be interested in yours. The only problem is I'm in Canada.

91 vette L98, would flowmasters increase performance or just noise?
Thanks
Currently, I have the bone stock setup other than flowmaster mufflers. (EDIT:True-duals now, kept flowmasters)
Not a catback, just muffler swap.
I didn't notice any SOP difference, but it sounds real sweet.
I've got a vid of me doing the seafoam treatment. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...in__video_.flv
A lot of the stock Vette mufflers were dynomax brand, which make cheap performance mufflers. you won't see much difference, but it will sound a lot better, you will see some difference if you open other things up like gutting/removing the cat (if you live in a town with no inspections)...
