Default 383 Stoker

Hello, My name is Chuck. I have a 1995 vette. I had a 1992 camaro L98
it was a 350 11.8.1 with a Paxton supercharger that made 10 lbs of boost. It ran 123.00mph, 12.0 had a hard time getting off the line. Well getting to the point. I am trying to use the same idea but in a vette. I bought a blower works charger and most of my engine parts forged pistons, crank, and rod For a 383. flat top pistons with Afr 210 heads which would give me 11.0.1 compression plus a vortech charger 8 lbs of boost. So dose anyone have any input?

Thanks, Chuck

you had a 11.8:1 motor with 10psi of boost?? How long did that last?

That 383 with 11:1 at 8 psi is not going to last to long as I see it.

Run alky injection and get a decent stall of at least 2200. You should be in the 10's then at 125 plus.

wow... Uh, alky injection for sure. Tune is well or it will go kablamo fast. "most" of the parts are forged? What isn't? I would probably ceramic coat the piston tops, valves and combustion chambers.

I ran this Engine for 2 years. I ran stock cast pistons. to change the short block I would have had to replace everything. So I ran it to the end. And when it went, it went. I used tuner cats programing. The piston shattered into a billion Pieces. my new set up I plan on 11:1. I have SRP pistons, 4340 rod and crank. Go fast or go home.

Why not just run dished pistons and drop the compression to 9:1 and then turn up the boost to 15 or so. That will give you WAY more horsepower than the compression increase of two points and be much safer.

If your in the build... keep your CR in the 9's and go forged...

with 11:1 you may as well go 13.5 to :1 and stay normally aspirated...

I have 10.8:1 and was running 6 boost(procharger) through an intercooler and didn't last long. Less than a year! Destroyed the gasket and melted the head between cylinder 3 and 5. That high comp. I would def. not tell anyone to do this. Get N20 and use it when you want it!!

DAmn, I was wanting to put a super charger on my car but my comp ratio is somwhere in the 10's. I have hyper pistons, 6 pounds of boost isnt recommended for that huh?

So eventually your piston heads are going to crack, is that the outcome?

If you are at High Altitude you could easily get away with it. I don't know the physics involved but up here you can high compression and decent boost. krivera on here had a 383 with 10.x and was running 12lbs of boost out of a procharger D-1 and he never had any problems except for traction problems

I bet he had forged internals though. not hyperuetic pistons.

I would not have any piston other than forged, especially when your under boost. I bought into the benefits of Hyperyou@@ck me pistons. I could have spent a few dollars more and got forged. Won't make that mistake again.
