Even with the hot sun pounding on the battery day after day, it lasted for four years. In AZ, that's a long time for a battery. Nowadays, one of these batteries would never last that long. I'm afraid to say that I agree with everyone here and think that the AC Delco battery is a piece of crap.
I'd suppose that heat, esp. the kind you're talking about in AZ is tough on battereies. But generally, the colder it gets, the harder a battery has to work. In fact, I think I read a long time ago that as the temp goes below freezing the battery has something approaching 50% of its cold cranking ability. Two things with that: first, it's working hard to start a car and two, it'll take a while to get recharged, if ever.

It'd be nice to know that there's some good batteries out there besides the Optima line which is what, twice as much as the best non-Optima?

C4BOY, I think that might be the secret with AC Delco, the 75/7 yr. batteries are obviously better, but at a premium price. That is what I put in my 1991 Vette just for originality.

Here is another one, the body shop that painted my car had one of those 2002 ZL1 Camaro Supercars, with the 600HP, 427 C5R race motors, come in their shop. I disassembled the car for them as the customer wasn't happy with the original paint, and that was in June. They finally painted the car, and as I was reassembling it I needed to check door locks, lights, etc. Guess what, battery was shot, and this is a 4 year old car with 97 original miles on it.

Check it out next month in Motor Trend, it is blue with a wide white stripe down the middle, and it is car #38, and has the Stage 3 package. Awesome car if your into Camaro's!!
