When an Optispark goes does it stay gone? Before you flame. Read on.

Once an opti fails and you get a no start condition, will it fail to start for good or can/does it start intermittantly?

I belive it depends on why the Opti is having problems in the first place. I got mine wet with some coolant once and after a few hours with a heat gun and an air blower the car cranked back up. It did however strand me a few times in the upcomming week by intermittantly losing spark while driving to work.
However that was 6-7 Moths ago and I haven't had any problems since, but its always in the back of my mind that because of my mistake in getting it wet it could quit at any time.
So yes they can come back to life. But most do not. If the bearing is gone in it or the optical sensor just failed or the rotor blew up its probally toast forever.

It can be very intermitten. I took months for my first opti to die. At times it would run great, then at times it would sputter and cough.

With mine, it ran good/bad/dead/bad/good/great/dead/bad.....for over 3 months.

I finally pulled it and found the rotor flopping around with only one loose screw holding it and the centering pin broken!

I was amazed it ran at all.
