I am done with the shift kit nightmare...or am i?!?!
when i went on the test drive to see everything was going smooth...i wanted to see what it would do if i manual shifted down...worked fine..slowed down..put back into drive...as i drive down the street...doesnt shift into second or any other gear...put in first..shift up...nothing!
anyone have any ideas..does something have to re learn anything?
So do you only have first gear now? As long as you still have P, R, N, and OD, D ,2 and 1 act as first gear, the 3-2 check valve or whatever it is called is probably stuck. In order to remedy that you have to pull out the valve body again. The place to look is where you drilled one of the holes. Make sure that whole is deburred and the vavle itself moves freely. In my case I had to cut down the valve on a lathe because it was too big for the valve body.
I just checked your profile and noticed you have a 93 like I do. I am willing to bet that that is what got hung up in the trans. PeteK has informed me that the 93 trans has some specific parts to it that the others years do not. When I called Trango they told me that their kits fit fine and do not require any modification. I told them my vavle was too big so they send out another one. That one was just as big.
I then measured the stock valve and the ones they sent me with a micrometer. Both of the valves they sent me were .002" bigger than the original. They offered to have me send in the valve body and promised they would make it work. I told them I had a lathe and would do it myself.
