Default Tips on Finding vacuum leaks ??

Getting ready to try to find why my recently purchased 88 vert has such a rough idle when cold. OK after it warms up, or at least it's much, much better.

Local vette specialists put it on the scope said it had low "power" on 3 cylinders when cold, then OK after warmup. They then had all injectors flow tested and OKed. No difference whatsoever.

Now I want look for vacuum leaks and was wondering if there's such a procedure here on the forum. Didn't find anything through searches that was very detailed, and I'm in need of some specific instructions on where to look and how to go about it.

It was suggested I rebuild the throttle body and I guess that's next, just wanted to look today for vacuum leaks first.

Thanks in advance . . .

low power on 3 cylinders??? I am assuming you mean low compression. if that is the case, i would try a leak down test to see if the rings are bad. when the engine is warm, the pistons will expand and let the rings seal a bit better. when cold, they would contract and there might be your power loss? Just something to think about.

Anyhow, to check for vacuum leaks, just start spraying carb cleaner over the vacuum lines and head gasket area. a fluxuation in your idle will show you where there is a vac leak.

Hope that helps....
