Default Every pipe in!!! Help

My dad's 84 is sitting in my garage with the crank bearings out and the car is still quite nice with 60K miles and I want to get it fixed. Best opinions on a ne engine and the mods. Should I go carbed? The car is an auto z51 car. I took it to the prom 15 tears ago and I owe him to get it fixed up. Thanks everyone. Links would be great. Dave

I guess the question is if you want to deviate from stock and how far are you willing to go.

Could do a stock rebuild, or maybe a stroked 383 while keeping the crossfire set-up.

Yes, you could go carbed but a lot of guys frown on that, (although my car IS currently carbed I will be changing back to TPI this winter).

The main variable is money. What are you willing to spend.

Fill in those blanks and I'm sure you will get plenty of opinions.

BTW, have you searched the C4 forums for "carb"? Do that and you will have some good reading...

A budget and some goals would help a lot. I am one of those that frown on the carb conversion. Besides, the induction doesn't have to be touched in order to fix it, other than the R&R. You could, just buy a crank kit. My guess is that a crate engine long block like the GM LM1, would be the cheapest most efficient way to get it back on the road in a hurry.

RACE ON!!!

Default I wish I had lots of money.....

I don't want to spend alot of money but the car is kind of worthless now. If I was to spend $5000,.... 383 with alum. heads and crossfire would be great 325hp, way better than 205. I was looking for combos without changing to much with the computer and carbs on a car like this are ugly but I don't want to spend 1500 after I get the engine done, just to get it to run. If your going to invest the 25 hours to R&R the engine I want to do more than than just rebuild it to get it to run. The car is still pretty nice and my dad tried to sell it for 3500 and I just seen that as a big waste and got him not to sell it. Thanks...
