Had a blast at the drags...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep your car temp below 180 - mine always seems to run better when it's less than 180.
I would guess that you will run a best of 15.3 @ 94mph....Don't be dissapointed if you run a 15.5-15.6 because it is 5800' up!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That is some damn fine guessing! best was 15.287 @ 90.99;worst was 15.627 @ 88.12 and that was with a passenger.
I went with a buddy and we got 8 runs in. I drove 6 runs, and he drove 2. The first guy I was up against, keep in mind this was my first drag race (at a drag strip with a tree and all)ever, drove a 9.862 @ 133.92mph. I also got to drive against LilRed twice and my buddy Brian got to drive against 91_Corvette. It was great fun! Anybody wanna tell me how to correct these times? LilRed and 91_Corvette took some digital pics, I am sure they will post a few of them.
Thanks, Bob
Check out my site for equations to correct for temp & RH; here's the equation for altitude correction (3%loss /1000’ or 17.4% at 5,800').
(bhp loss) = (elevation in feet) * (0.03) * (bhp at sealevel) / 1000
If you know the weight of your car when you launched, you can calcualte crank HP from trap speed:
(HP = (mph / 234)^3 * weight).
Then apply the 17.4% altitude correction to get the corrected HP:
(HPcorr=HP / .826).
From that you can calculate the corrected trap speed:
(MPHcorr = (HPcorr / weight)^1/3 * 234) and ET
(ETcorr = 85.75 * 15.822 / MPHcorr ).
If we assume your Vette weighed 3,380lbs at launch and taking your best trap speed of 91mph, your crank HP was about 200HP. Correcting for the 17.4% altitude loss that becomes 240 HPcorr. This now gives us a corrected trap speed of about 97mph with an ET of about 14.0sec. This is an estimation; when you plug in the actual numbers you will get closer to true values.
Since Raceway Park is at sea level I don't have this one in a spread sheet but I do use a spread sheet to normalize for weather conditions. Based on a recent dyno pull, the equations give a pretty good estimate of crank HP.

sounds like you guys/gals had alot of fun! For altitude corrections, here is a chart that I ran across once.....
http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/misc/altitude.html
it stops at 5500 ft.... but you come out around a 14.2 @ 98mph probably.... not bad!
Glad you had a good time! Also glad to see that you got to hang out with some of my fellow club members.
So this means you'll be at our car show on September 22nd then, RIGHT?
Tim
So hows the car running, did you ever get the prom reprogrammed?
Also me and April were talking about getting the cars Dynoed, think we could get together a group to get the discount?
