Windshield Wiper Arm Has Shifted Down Somehow !?
Rather than resting on the plastic stopper at the base of the windshield (when turned off), the driver's side blade was actually jumping over the stopper and bottoming out about 2.5 inches below it's proper position. Slamming over the stopper had resulted in the wiper itself being fractured at its attachment point on the wiper arm.
Here's the trick, I thought that the wiper motor mechanism might have somehow malfunctioned, allowing the wiper arm to "jump a tooth" so to speak. I thought I could pull the arm off and reposition it slightly on the motor hub, but the wiper arm is "keyed" so there is only one way in which it can attach. Also, the arm itself does not look bent.
Soooo.....my question is, how the heck did my wiper arm get reposition itself 2.5" inches below it's proper position?? ...and how do I get it back in its rightful location so I can use my wipers??
Any clues would be GREAT! Thanks
