Re: LT1 vs. LT4 What's the Difference.? (dgoodhue)
I dunno about the 350hp claim. I just had mine dyno'ed two weeks ago with only mufflers changed and hit 296.6rwhp with 302.2 torque on an almost new car. Other list members verified that this number is pretty dead on. 330 sounds about right to me, unless there's some SERIOUS drivetrain loss. Hitting the dyno again tomorrow, with my (limited) new mods....

Well, it's common to use 15% drivetrain loss for a 6-speed car.

Concur with what most everyone else said here. The biggest, most noticeable difference will be the smile on your face when you drive one! :D
The LT4's advertised 330HP was actually underrated by the factory, presumably so as not to detract from the "new" LS1 motor coming out in 1997 (this info is from a Corvette senior engineer not to be quoted here ;) )
This is why most stock LT4's generally dyno between 295 and 305 RWHP, which, as Jason explained, is equivalent to 347 - 359 HP at the flywheel.
Actually, there are a LOT of differences between the LT1 and LT4 (no hyphens, please). Here is a website that spells most of the differences out for ya.

Re: LT1 vs. LT4 What's the Difference.? (CAJUN C4)
LT4's are definitely nice running cars. I recently bought one of those "cream puffs" with 11,000 miles on it. Both original tops, Z51, in like new condition.
I got mine at Rogers Corvette in Orlando. Had it shipped to Austin for $500.
I saved putting about 1,200 miles on it, and it would have cost about that much to fly there and drive it back. Roger has many, many very nice LT4's right now. He only sells pristine, low mileage cars. He has a CE LT4 with about 500 miles on it, and a Red coupe with 2,000 miles. Several others.
His cars aren't cheap; but again, you get what you pay for. There is a vette dealer here in Austin that has a 96 CE LT4 with 4,000 miles. You have to search for the cream puffs because all dealers don't specialize in those cars.
Good luck
:D
