I plan to install Comp Pro Magnum 1.6 in my 88. I have a FASTCHIP. I emailed FASTCHIP and they said they would reprogram my chip for $150.00. Do you think it's has to be done over for this mod?
If that's the only change being or been made since the chip was burned for your application, can't see the slight change in lift necessitating a recal.

No need to reprogram for a 1.5 to 1.6 rocker change. I didn't reprogram when I went from 1.6 to 1.7 when I had my heads/cam setup. I have a lot of datalogging utilities and I saw no problems, everything was running just as good as with the 1.6 rockers.

"Has to"? no.
"Want to"? maybe.
I don't know about L98, but a stock LT1 can get 15-20 rwhp from tuning, so if I added mods I'd definitely consider a tune.
I guess for me it would depend on whether this was the end-goal or not. If that's all the mods you're going to do, then get it tuned. If it's just a first step, then either wait, or get the equipment to tune it yourself.
