Default Crate Engine Source

The '93 is headed to the shop tomorrow and hopefully it will be only the flywheel. But in case it is the lower end, I will probably go ahead pull the engine and drop a new one in so I wanted to get opinions of the CF.
  1. Would you just buy a short block?
  2. If so from where?
  3. Would you go ahead and pull the whole engine and replace it?
  4. If so, would you go back with a 350 or 383 and if so what source.

I've looked online at crate engine but didn't really know what to look at. The engine only has 55K on it so I'm thinking even if the rod bearing are bad I may be OK but who knows. I also have to keep in mind this car is for my wife so putting a 383/450HP in it won't happen.
