If Bill straightened you out back on 9/26, why did you choose to state the opposite (wrong) facts as late as this morning, and then try to smooth it over by editing it, and re-stating the incorrect information as a question? Besides Bill's post, I posted several times that the bolt patterns were the same, also.

You HAVE posted no bad information. You merely pulled in your horns and deleted the false information others had a chance to read. You did NOT take necessary steps to prevent any bad information from surfacing on the net, you only limited it's duration. Now if you can get everyone who read your nonsense to come back and read your retraction, you may have righted your wrong. You sound pretty self righteous over having corrected your posting of false information. I'm not a winner. I had nothing at stake to begin with. My only "stake" is to help prevent people who are trying to learn, from being fed falsehoods and old wives tales. You are the biggest winner along with any other forum members that may have picked up on the correct information.

This was copy/pasted from the original un-edited post.
Since I was the person who posted the picture...

I wanted to clarify that the picture is indeed of a TPI base, an Edelbrock #3860 to be exact.

Thanks.

You are correct that the EGR passage in the early manifold wouldnt be in the way. If you wanted to change to later aluminum heads and keep the egr system working wouldnt you have to use a later manifold? Beacuse the external egr feeds from the exhaust manifold into a rear passage in the later manifolds. If you used the 85 manifold how would you get the EGR system hooked up? I appologize about the bad info on the angled bolts. Like I said I never verified the bases.

I am not all that familiar with the variations of the L98 EGR systems over the years. My guess is that you are correct about using a later manifold in order to keep the EGR.

Yep. A full point of compression is worth a 3 to 4 percent power increase, all other factors remaining equal.
