I have a strange problem, when I apply the brakes on my 87 the car gives a hard pull to the right then stops straight as an arrow. I replaced the front brake rubber lines, the rotors the calipers and pads, no change. If I depress the brake pedal slowly the car does not pull. Anyone have this happen? if so, What did you find?
I have seen many posts for problems like these on these year cars many times. You might have an ABS problem where you are not getting proper pressure to the left wheel. This would cause a pull to the right. It has been a clogged ABS pump and it has been replaced for the fix.
Many ways to check for this. Jack car up and spin wheels, hit brake easy and see if there is a difference in braking. Or you can check with brake fluid flow while bleeding.
Since you replaced the lines as well,it could be a alignment/worn out front end problem or even something as simple as tire pressure being low on one side.
If the tire pressure is good, try to swap wheels from side to side and see if theres a change, but unsure if you have directional tires on there.
I swapped the wheels, that didn't help. I did notice less fluid flow on the left side of the car while bleeding, the pedal goes down slowly with the bleeder open, on the right side the pedal goes down easy when the bleeder is opened. Is the abs unit serviceable or does it need to be replaced? I did notice the pull is less when it's real hot out.
