Default Ride Control Question.

OK, I have another dumb question.

How can I tell if my ride control is working? All of the settings seem to feel the same.

"Touring" mode feels just like "Performance" mode.

Should I be able to tell a big difference?

Drive over railroad traks a bunch of times in the different settings. If they are working, you'll feel a difference.

I've felt the difference when I really step on it. It definately feels stiffer in performance mode when I'm in performance mode.

I would make sure that when you start the vette that the suspension light comes on and then goes off. Sometimes folks pull the light bulb when the system has an issue. Turning the switch will not do anything if it is not working. Hench, no differrence in feeling.

It's most noticable to me at highway speeds. The car handles bumps differently.

I believe that the system is speed controlled. As the speed increases the shocks/system work differently. I couldn't tell the difference either for a long time, then on a trip my wife reaches over and flips the switch from comp to tour. Man what a difference doing 70mph, I couldn't believe it seemed like 2 different cars.

I think that as the speed increases the difference becomes more noticable.

For a long time, like 3 years after I bought the car, it didn't work. I have a 91 Z-07 with the stiffest springs of the breed. It rode like a tank. Finally got it fixed and what a difference, still stiff but a much more tolerable ride with it on the softest setting. There is an overpass with a little dip that I hit on the way home. Softest setting, a bit of rebound, but on the hardest setting almost none. I like the system now that it works.

you will probably notice it more in cornering too. The car should lean more or less depending on which mode you have it on.

Also, check to make sure you have the bilstein FX3 shocks (forgot the model number of them) and that the little electric connectors (actuators) are still plugged in. basically, see if the front shocks have a wire plugged into the top of them. At least you will know if its hooked up or not.

I had all my ride control stuff removed and have regular shocks in mine now.
