I just unhooked the switch on the driver's side. The connector on the switch is wide or bell shaped is this the one? Well anyway it did turn off the fan.
The device in the drivers side head should be the auxiliary fan switch in your car. Since disconnecting it shut off a previously, contantly running fan, indicates that the aux fan switch has a short. Replacement of the switch is the cure. The main and auxiliary fans are totally separate systems on your car.
Both of these don't have the same connector top to it.

Both of your links are to temperature sending units. You need a fan switch. The GM past number is 14043276. A.C. Delco part number, D1852B. Which looks like THIS. If you like Checker/PartsAmerica, look HERE.
