Any early C4 convertible owners with a 3" exhaust system. I was wondering if there were any problems with clearance, due to the cross brace. Thanks for any help.
Have a 87' roadster (AUTOMATIC)that we have installed "MELROSE" headers with NO AIR, NO EGR, NO CATS. It is 3" from headers to the back and there they necked it down to 21/2" so anybodys mufflers will fit. It is tight along the tranny and we had to bend the x-brace on the drivers side and shim the front a little, now that we bent the brace a little can probably take spacers out. The stick tranny will probaly work better. They are great people to work with and am pleased with the results even though had to tourqe the x-brace. Did lose about 1" of ground clearance just need to watch it through some drives. I am real pleased with the quality of the fit and finish . wro87

I have the Melrose system also, but I have'nt installed it yet. The convertible has a cross brace and I was wondering if the pipes would fit up under the brace.
Everything lays up in there nice. The pipe on the drivers side was the PIA. Had a conference call between Melrose and Random Tech. tried to squeze it a little then decided to kink the x-brace. what we did is unbolt the front (backs bolted in place) placed a 2x4 about 2'long were it needed to be kinked then a 8" piece of 1" angle between the 2x4 and brace. Then used the floor jack to push up on the front mount of the brace to put just a little kink in it. Did it a couple of times till I liked the results. Did use some shims under the front but know I think they can be done away with. wro87
