Quick question on '84 manufacterer security system
If the car sits for weeks or months I can hop in, fire it up and ride around well. The car runs great and handles excellent and is a great time.
I just cant do it twice. Once I get back home turn it off and go inside for awhile and then hop back in it wont start.
Everything is functional except the injectors will not initialize, I can put a little fluid in the throttle body and start it up but since the injectors do not fire it wont stay running.
Over the years I have done much such a replacing the fuel pump and some sensors, o-rings and doing some testing.
Back to the security system, when the security activates on an 84 does the engine turn over and just not fire or does the system not allow anything to happen when the key is turned?
I think possibly the security system is faulty and not iniatizing the injectors, what do you think?
In my '85 I can tell you that NOTHING works if the security system is triggerred. Pump won't prime. Injectors won't fire. Car won't turn. Nothing.
Have you checked continuity when the engine is hot? It could be a connection issue. Check volts when engine is running. Check ohms when it is off. Drive about. Check volts & ohms of a warm car. When the symptoms return, check the ohms.
BTW: Are you sure the enjectors are not firing? Could it be some sort of vapor lock issue? Have you done a rolling fuel pressure check? I had a LeBaron with the single injector TB. I thought it was not firing. I had someone else turn it over while I tested it. It was firing, but no fuel was coming out.
The car will not start in its present condition (drove it yesterday) for a few weeks after this happens.
Everything functions but no fuel. If I remove the air cover I can see the injectors are not firing. If I turn the igntion to start I can hear the first IAC humming but not the second.
Anyone with an 84 know if either or both should be humming or if neither should be humming?
RACE ON!!!
