Default ignition module, Where's it located?

No start condition in my friends 1996 6-speed. He has replaced the OptiSpark and still has a no start condition.

Next thought is to check the ignition module, coil, and coil wire. Also how do we check the ignition module? Where is the ignition module located?

Thanks for your assitance,

Start with the basics. First check for spark out of the coil, check for spark to ground. Make sure coil wire is not arking near water pump. Other check can be made before you go to the ICM. Let us know what this test yields and then you can go in the correct direction.

If you have good spark, 1 inch ark, from the coil, the ICM, and coil are working. Make sure the coil wire to the opti is good and is not arking at the water pump area. If all good, check for spark at the plugs.

If you have spark there, have you check your fuel pressure?

BTW, did the opti slip on easy to the front cover. If it did not fall on and you forced it in some way, the shaft could be misaligned. The bolts should not pull the opti to the case, just keep it on.

I removed mine (two small screws) and took it to a local auto parts store, most of which can test them for free.

Thank you for all the assistance. No spark at coil. Had ICM checked, was told it was "ok". Replacing coil & wire tonight. Not my Corvette and have been trying to fix over the phone. Visited in person, found no spark. I'll keep you updated...
